MORE BABIES AT THE RIGGAN RANCH…

On Monday, my son’s sheep (Cutie) had two babies (Joshua and Jericho). Just a couple of hours ago, my daughter’s sheep (Anabelle) had her two babies, which are unnamed so far. Click the “More” button to see what they look like (hint: they look like lambs). Any name suggestions? I think I’ll make a contest out of this… I’ll have my daughter be the judge. The winning entry will get a free CD or DVD (your choice). (continue reading…)

FRODO OR FRO-DON’T? (The LOTR Poll)

The kids and I just finished watching The Lord of The Rings (Fellowship of the Ring – Extended version). It was their first time, and they loved it. Epic in every way. Beautifully filmed and designed, mostly great acting (I still scratch my head about the choice of Elijah Wood for Frodo) and themes of loyalty and friendship, love and honor, kindness and sacrifice.

So what about you? My wife is pretty creeped out by Gollum, so she’s not a fan. Do you love LOTR? Hate it? Indifferent? Take the poll below and let’s see what y’all think! (continue reading…)

JULIE’S KANGAROO

Played games last night with Julie and the kids. In Pictionary, Emily and I usually get beat pretty badly by Julie and Joey, but this time we almost beat them. ADMIRATION

I’m helping Joey with homework and he looks up at me with an admiring expression. I ask “what is it, bud?” He’s obviously going to say something like “thanks for the help, Dad – you’re really smart.” Instead: “Dad, you have a really bushy beard.” Thanks, son. That means a lot to me…

KARATE WATER

I have made an astonishing discovery: the water fountain at Emmett’s community center has magical qualities. I’m not sure exactly what those qualities are, but the water itself appears to have an irresistible appeal.

Here’s how I’ve come to know this startling fact: two nights a week, my son has Karate class at the community center. During that hour, no student may drink from the fountain. When the class is over and the final “domo arigato” is spoken … well, let’s just say you wouldn’t want to stand in the way of those thirsty Karate students. They literally stampede.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE WEAR…

Joey just asked me if it’s “really true that a smile is the most important thing we wear”. Then he said, “it seems like it would be pants.”

Gotta admit, the boy has a point.
