The other day I heard a radio program interviewing professional Santas. They talked about an organization called FORBS, which stands for the “Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas.” If you don’t believe me, check them out for yourself HERE.

The interviewer talked with a number of these Santa pros, many of whom expressed disdain for those “fake Santas” who don’t have real beards. Kind of interesting that these guys – who are pretending to be Santa – look down on those “posers” who wear fake beards …

These Santas have an insurance plan. They pay membership dues. They even have associate memberships for Mrs. Santas and Elves. Who knew that mall Santas were so organized!

Obviously, the name and reputation of Santa Claus means something to these guys. In the interview, one of them said: “When you put on that Santa suit, you have to live up to the name of Santa.” They aren’t fooling around, y’all.

Galatians 3:27 tells us that Christians are “clothed with Christ” – you might almost say that we are wearing a “Jesus suit.” And – not unlike the FORBS Santas – we’re called to “live up to” the Name of Jesus. I wonder what that would look like?

PHIL 2: 5-11 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!
